Home Visits
If you are too ill to come to the Health Centre or Surgery and wish to arrange a home visit, please telephone the normal number before 10am if possible. Remember home visits use up a lot of time, which cuts down the time available to see others. Whenever possible, try to come to the surgery.
Night Visits & Weekend Calls

Emergency out of hours service is provided by when calling the surgeries out of hours service you will hear a recorded message which will advise you of the number to call. This number will be repeated a second time. The doctor you contact may not necessarily be your doctor.You may also seek advice and help from NHS Direct by telephoning 0845 4647.
Dispensary
You can obtain medicines from the dispensary if youlive more than a mile from a chemist, you are atemporary resident or you are unable to get to a chemistshop easily. Ask at the dispensary for details.

Repeat Prescriptions
If you need medicines regularly, your doctor may supply you with a repeat prescription card. You can use this to order your prescription by leaving it at the dispensary at Holmwood or Morland. Alternatively you may use the special answerphone service. (Holmwood Health Centre 0118 981 5923 - 24 hours service, Morland Surgery 0118 981 0446 between 9am and 6pm). State your name, the number on your repeat card and the items you require. You can collect your prescription or medicines two working days laterIf you are a Morland Patient and wish to collect medicines at Holmwood, then you must place your order at Holmwood and vice versa.
Non-NHS Examinations
A range of Medical Examinations are undertaken by appointment. Please tell the receptionist when making an appointment so that adequate time is allowed. Please ask for details of the private fee that will be due.
Cervical Smears
The Doctors recommend routine smears on a regular basis. You will receive a letter when yours is due.
Maternity Care
Your own doctor, along with the Community Midwives attached to Holmwood Health centre and Morland Surgery, provides antenatal and postnatal care. The Midwife can be contacted at reception on (Holmwood) 0118 981 4166 or (Morland) 0118 981 6661.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are trained nurses with additional health visiting qualifications. Their speciality is working closely with families and children mainly under five. They also give extra support to families and individuals with special needs.
Child Health Surveillance
All children under five are registered for child health surveillance and are given appointments with the Doctor/Health Visitor for developmental assessments at the appropriate stages.Please ring for up to date information on child health clinics via the Community Reception Desk at Holmwood on 0118 981 1127 or at Morland on 0118 9817535.
Child Immunisation
The Practice Nurses run special immunisation clinics at Holmwood and Morland. Please contact reception for clinic details.
Home Nursing
The Community Nursing Team visits patients who require home nursing. The hospital will refer patients on discharge who require care. Yourself or your relatives/carers may also request a visit on 0118 981 1127.
